Horses For Sale

Freddie

Well-Broke Cremello Gelding for Sale

Freddie is an approx. 20-year-old 13.2hh grade cremello gelding.

· Well-broke w/t/c

· Very balanced and responsive under saddle

· Has done flat, jumping, and trail riding

· Easy to catch, lead, brush, pick feet

· Trailers excellently, great for farrier

· Good for beginner riders, has been used as a kids lesson pony

· UTD on farrier, vaccinations, and deworming

Freddie is an approx. 20-year-old 13.2hh grade cremello gelding.

Freddie is very well broke to ride w/t/c with many buttons. He is super balanced under saddle, and very responsive. He is a cute and confident jumper and has jumped upwards of 2 feet both stadium and cross country this past summer. On the flat Freddie has beautiful transitions, steady movement, lovely circles, and picks up both canter leads. He is a very straight and steady ride, with just the right combination of woah and go. He is suitable for a beginner rider but is also a lot of fun for the more experienced rider.

Freddie is easy to catch, lead, brush, pick feet (although acts stiff at first when picking up right front), saddle, bridle, and mount. He has been trailered lots, loads easily, and stands tied at the trailer. He stands perfectly for the farrier.

We are unsure of Freddie’s breeding but suspect him to be a Fjord cross of some sort due to his build. He has a very short-stride, highly balanced movement, and with his short legs doesn’t cover much ground. He is a great teacher for a beginner rider with his ability to travel steadily at any pace - including canter - without a lot of speed. His transition into the canter is beautiful and easy to ride, although his canter can feel bouncy due to his movement. He is not rushy at all, even when jumping, and never goes too fast, making him easily manageable for a beginner rider.

Freddie is a typical pony with a mind of his own at times. To be transparent he has now and then done little buck or rear protests when asked to do something he doesn’t want to. This rarely happens in an arena, but rather in a large open area when asked to leave his friends. His protests are not hard to ride and have always been resolved by confidently moving him forward to where he needs to go. Sometimes all it takes is for someone to lead him forward or another horse to ride with him.  Interestingly, in our experience with him he has never shown this attitude for beginner riders, it is only when experienced and persistent riders ask him to do something that he doesn’t want to do, such as leave his friends, that he acts up. We have used him as a lesson horse for many beginner riders, both lead line and independent riding in the arena, and he is always a unicorn for them. He is well-broke and knows what he’s supposed to do. He has never bolted.

Freddie is up-to-date on vaccinations, deworming, and farrier. He has nice feet but for rocky riding would need shoes to prevent his walls from cracking or chipping. We have kept him barefoot for arena and pasture work with no issues. Freddie is an easy keeper who gets fat on air, but we have found with regular exercise his weight is easily managed. He has never foundered. Freddie can be bossy with other horses but with time becomes more of a friend than a dictator. :) He shows no indication of his age and does not act like an older fellow, especially in terms of his body score!

Only selling because we have to downsize; he really is a great pony who is lots of fun. A good home is our priority!

Freddie is located at He Loves Me Stables, 10 minutes East of High River. We are asking $5500.

Feel free to message with any questions. We look forward to hearing from you!

Mario - SOLD

Gorgeous QH/Warmblood Gelding

Mario is a 15-year-old 15.3hh bay Quarter Horse/Warmblood gelding.

-broke Western, English, and bareback

-rides out alone or in a group

-easy to catch, brush, saddle, bridle

-UTD on farrier, vaccinations, and deworming

-coming back from ligament injury, currently sound

-more info below

Mario is broke to ride Western, English, and bareback, and has been ridden both in the arena and out on trails. He has a solid build with a lovely well-set neck, and carries himself beautifully under saddle. We have done various things with him from bareback pasture trail rides to kids lead-line lessons and arena drill team work and he is excellent in each. He rides out both alone or with a group with zero issues. In an arena he is more of a push ride, whereas in the pasture he gets more of a pep in his step. He would definitely enjoy being a trail horse.

Mario is easy to catch, brush, saddle, bridle, and mount. He can sometimes take some convincing to pick up his feet but holds them nicely once they’re up and is otherwise excellent to trim. He does have a club foot, but otherwise has solid strong feet. He trailers well, stands tied quietly, and is respectful on the lead.

At this time Mario is only suitable for walk/trot due to a left front ligament strain/injury he had a couple of years ago. We have worked on rehabilitating him from hand-walking all the way up to where he is now and he has progressed phenomenally. He currently shows no signs of unsoundness and with a continuation of this rehab he should be able to walk/trot/canter under saddle without issue. Mario does very well with regular work, and can get stiff otherwise. Due to this injury he will likely never be able to jump or do speed events, but he is a lovely sound pleasure ride with nice movement. Vet reports available for interested buyers, and pre-purchase exams welcome at the buyer’s expense.

Mario is up-to-date on hoof trims, vaccinations, and deworming. He is an easy keeper who can get overweight. We keep him in a dry pen due to our setup but he would do well on limited turnout as well. He has never foundered.

Mario gets along well with other horses and enjoys his equine companions. He has lived alone in a paddock but is much more content with a friend. He is not herdbound, other than a bit of whinnying for his buddies.

Mario is located at He Loves Me Stables, 10 minutes East of High River. We are asking $3000. A good home is our priority.

Feel free to message with any questions. We look forward to hearing from you!

Dream - SOLD

Bombproof Grade QH Mare

Dream is a 14.3hh approx. 19-year-old grade Quarter Horse bay mare.

Dream is a very safe ride, broke w/t/c Western, English, and bareback. She is bombproof with zero spookiness and has been a very safe and reliable lesson horse for our program. She is a forward-stepping horse: a good mix of woah and go. In an arena she is completely kid-safe with zero buck, bolt, or rear. She is the kind of horse that can be crawled all over without minding one bit: she can be vaulted onto, ridden double, etc.

Dream has excellent ground manners: easy to catch, lead, tie, brush, pick feet. She stands perfectly for the farrier. She has trailered lots, is great to load, and stands tied quietly at the trailer. Her only fault on the ground is that she is cinchy and gets nippy when being saddled. This is less when outdoors, and once the saddle is on and cinched up, she has no issues with her rider tightening or loosening the cinch again.

Dream has done an extensive amount of trail riding and is a sturdy mount. When coming home, though, she does get prancy. She has also done plenty of English arena work, both with experienced riders and with beginner lesson students. In an arena she can get lazy, and it takes some convincing to get her into the canter.  Otherwise, she is a responsive ride with no silly business for the beginner or experienced rider alike. She has been schooled over small jumps at various Pony Club functions, including a weekend riding camp. She is not a very athletic jumper, but she is willing to please. She is the same horse regardless of where she is.

Dream is up-to-date on farrier work, deworming, and vaccinations. She has a minor club foot but otherwise excellent feet with solid walls. We keep her barefoot with zero issues.

Dream gets along very well with other horses; if anything she is the one who gets picked on. She is not herdbound, only a bit homebound. :) She has zero issues keeping weight on and gets overweight without exercise.

Dream is located at He Loves Me Stables, 10 minutes East of High River. We are only selling because we have to downsize! Asking $5500.  A good home is our priority!

Feel free to message with any questions. We look forward to hearing from you!

Lakota - SOLD

 Incredible Well Broke QH/Arabian Mare

Lakota is a 2011 Quarter Horse/Arabian mare. She stands at 14.2hh and has gorgeous pinto colouring and a pretty face.

Lakota is 100% sound and can be ridden Western, English, or bareback. She is light on the bit and super responsive, and is definitely a more-go-than-whoa type horse with incredible endurance. Her natural striding is Arabian-style short-stepped; under saddle she will come onto the bit very nicely and when she does she is very balanced and organized in her movement. She is extremely adjustable at all gaits both in impulsion and lateral work. She also has an incredible free walk which she always gives, no matter how forward she may be at other gaits. She could make an amazing dressage horse and it would be really neat to see time put into her with the focus of this discipline.

In the last couple years she has been predominantly ridden English, and has been jumping up to 2’6” both stadium jumping and cross country. When jumping Lakota does best with a quiet, relaxed rider who can send her confidently over fences. Her movement can cause her to feel “bouncy” at the canter when she gets going; this is not an issue at all for the balanced rider, and is avoided when she is moving in a frame (which is easy to achieve for a relaxed rider). For this reason alone I would not recommend her for beginners as she does have go; nonetheless she is totally safe and sane with a good mind - no buck, bolt, or rear - and she always seeks to please her rider. She was ridden regularly this spring and summer, working mainly on dressage and jumping under Pony Club instruction.

Lakota does very well in a group setting. We keep her outdoors 24/7 year round with a small herd. She is an easy keeper; never foundered. Currently she is the boss mare, however when we first got her she was low on the pecking order. She enjoys her equine company and gets along with her companions very well, but is not herd bound at all. She stands nicely alone in the barn, rides beautifully in the arena with or without other horses, and can be ridden out alone on the trails (although she certainly isn’t the plod-along type🙂). She is not mare-ish under saddle; it is easy to keep her focus. She always stands quietly in a lesson when it is not her turn, making her a very enjoyable mount in a group lesson. She isn’t fidgety or spooky. All in all she is well broke with many miles: she has lots of buttons and is a very fun ride.

Lakota is up to date on vaccinations, deworming, and hoof trims. Healthy and sound, zero maintenance. Lovely conformation, straight legs. She stands perfect for the farrier and has good feet. She would need to be shod if ridden on hard or rocky terrain as her soles will bruise, but for arena work and pasture trails she has solid bare feet. Lakota has no issues with being caught, brushed, saddled, bridled, or mounted.

Selling only because I am heading off to Post-Secondary in the near future and I don’t want her to just sit. I don’t like having to do this! She is a very special and talented horse!

We are asking $7500 OBO. A good home is our priority.

Feel free to message with any questions. Video available upon request. We look forward to hearing from you!
