He Loves Me Stables is excited to announce our First Name The Foal Contest.
Two of our mares, Flicka and Melody, are due to foal in the spring of 2025!
All are invited to submit one name per foal, to be considered for the foal's registered name.
As soon as the foals are born, we will post pictures with information about each foal, and the contest will begin! We will accept name entries up until a month after the foal's day of birth.
See below for the 2025 Contest Details
Melody is a striking chestnut 2019 13.0 hh Quarter Pony, the daughter of Flicka. She is a lovely pony and likes her work. Melody likes trail rides, jumping, and flat work. She is willing to please anyone. In 2024 Melody was a lesson pony for the first time. She will be having her first foal in 2025.
Melody is one of our kindest horses.
He Loves Me Stables is hoping that her foal will be just as kind.
Melody has a left hind sock and a blaze that makes her stand out!
Her foal will be either a chestnut or a palomino.
We hope Melody will be a good mom, like her mom, Flicka. Flicka and Melody still both like each other's company the best.
Born April 25, 2025
It's a colt!
Standing 9hh at birth
Fun Fact 1: He was born on the same day as one of our staff.
Fun Fact 2: Though 90% of horses are born at night, he was born at 10:35 a.m. (after a long barn sleep over).
Fun Fact 3: It took him three tries to stand...
Fun Fact 4: ...and when he did, it was after Laura Nauta, one of our staff who had imprinted him, took a little step back: then he leaped up on all fours!
Fun Fact 5: Most foals will stand for up to 15 mins at a time before sleeping, but he stood for over 2 hours before sleeping!
Fun fact 6: Whenever people come into his stall he whinnies (as seen in picture above) and bounds to his feet.
This chestnut colt has a right hind sock, a left hind pastern, and a bumpy blaze. He already has lively actions and loves scratches! We hope that this info will help you with your name ideas!
We look forward to receiving all your great names!

Flicka is a 2008 13.0 hh mare. She is the daughter of a Quarter Horse mare and a mischievous Shetland Pony stallion! Flicka is a very independent pony and doesn't mind being alone, even getting a little grumpy around other horses. With her flaxen mane and tail, Flicka is very pretty, and she knows it!
Flicka has very nice temperament, perfect on the ground and just a little energetic in the saddle. She has had one foal (Melody).
Flicka has a Quarter Horse build with a lower-set neck and long back. Her legs are straight and her feet are strong.
Flicka is a silver bay pony. We are hoping that some silver (flaxen mane) will be passed on to her foal.
Flicka's due date is May 22, 2025!

Trigger is a 14.0 hh palomino stud with a blaze and one left hind sock. Section D is the largest of the Welsh Pony Breed.
Trigger is built with a deep heart girth, well-set neck and strong bone, ideal for endurance and athleticism.
Trigger has a smooth and floating gait with excellent movement! We wish we had a video to show you!
Great confirmation and straight legs gives Trigger great form to be passed to his offspring.
To enter the Contest, email your entry to helovesmestables@outlook.com before the deadline (30 days after the birth dates of the foals). The birth of each foal will be announced here on our website, as well as emailed out to our contact list. After we've received your entry, we will respond to let you know you are entered into the contest!
Each entry must include the following:
• Name of Contestant
• Phone Number and Email Address of Contestant
• Your chosen Registered Name of the Foal
• Meaning of the Name or reason for choosing the Name
• Optional: Suggestion for a barn name
• A horse's registered name is often more than one word, although it doesn't have to be.
• A horse's registered name is how the horse is introduced at shows and will be on the horse's pedigree, while the horse's barn name is what the horse is called "in the barn" or at the farm, everyday. Not all horses are registered, but these foals will be.
• He Loves Me Stables will register the foals under their chosen names and then decide what the foals' everyday "barn names" will be, most likely (but not always) based on their registered names.
Here are some name examples at He Loves Me Stables:
• Registered name: Lili Chantecler
• Barn Name: Lili
• Registered Name: Happy-Feet SCF
• Barn Name: Peso
• Registered Name: Wings Like A Star
• Barn Name: Estela
• Registered Name: Prairie Brae Reno
• Barn Name: Reno
He Loves Me Stables staff will choose the winning name from all the entries. The staff who are choosing the winning Name will not know who picked what name, so be sure not to tell the staff your name in person when you visit He Loves Me Stables:)
Names we are looking for are original, suit the foal, and have a special meaning.
The winning name will be chosen for each foal by He Loves Me Stables one week after the close of the Contest (30 days after the birth date of the foals). Once a name has been chosen for a foal, "HLMS" will be added to the start of the name and the foal will be registered under his or her new name.
Along with the prize of having your name on the foal’s registration papers, each winner will also receive a He Loves Me Stables sweater and a Name the Foal Contest Winner insulated water bottle. Your picture with the foal will also be recorded in He Loves Me Stables’ Records of the Name the Foal Contest Winners.
