Horse Savvy Theory Lessons

The Horse Savvy Lessons are geared to horse-lovers of all ages and experience levels. Allow us to share with you our love of horses and all that they can teach us! Horses are beautiful creatures that provide a wonderful way of pointing to the glory of God. 

We are going to cover a wide variety of topics in these lessons. All horse related, each lesson will have a central truth to take home, along with hands-on exposure and instruction. Learn about horse behaviour and how they work. Practice interacting with horses and communicating with them. Know what is required to keep your horse healthy and strong. Know how to care for and fit your tack and saddlery. Let us introduce you to the wonderful world of horses! 

In these lessons, we want to focus on letting our students grow in their confidence with horses by gaining some practical experience. There will be occasional times of riding focused on certain aspects of equitation, but the primary purpose of these lessons is to gain practical knowledge and experience from instruction on the ground with the horse.

Horse Savvy Theory Lessons Package DETAILS:

• One-hour Lessons
• Total of 5 lessons per Package
• Majority of instruction on the ground with the horse

Lessons Taught:

1. The Horse – Colours, Breeds, Parts of a Horse, Conformation

2. On the Ground – Horse Safety, Catching and Leading, General Groundwork with your horse, Horse Behaviour – Individual and Herd

3. Care of a Horse –Keeping a Horse (Chores, Feeding, Hooves, Brushing), Horse Health Care, Veterinary Care, Bandaging

4. Tack and Equipment – Tack used with a horse, Tack Maintenance and Care, Tack Fit, Saddling and Bridling a horse.

5. On the Horse – Balance when on a horse, Cues used when riding, Proper seat, and position for improving as a rider.
