The Foundation Student Training Program offers students the opportunity to gain work experience and grow in their confidence with horses. We offer this program as a working/training student position. Students start their time at He Loves Me Stables with an age-appropriate task around the farm, to be completed with assistance (such as fixing a fence, stacking hay bales, cleaning out pens, conditioning tack, sweeping out the barn, etc.), then spend some time under instruction with horses. The entire working/training session will be a training opportunity.
As students become more comfortable with certain tasks, they will naturally become more independent, however, all tasks and time with the horses will be supervised and directed by a Staff member. Time with the horses will be geared towards equipping the student to becoming confident and capable with horses so that they will be able to help with the care, management, and exercise of horses, ultimately training the student to be a leader at He Loves Me Stables. Areas of experience gained with the horses will be similar to our Horse Savvy Theory Classes – all about the horse, handling the horse on the ground, care of the horse, tack and equipment, and riding the horse.
A Work Experience Certificate and Employer Recommendation is available upon the completion of the Foundation Student Training Program.
